Root canal treatment – endodontic under a microscope.
If after examination it turned out that the tooth requires root canal treatment, it means that the bacteria of caries have penetrated the roots of the tooth. There is a special space in them – the canals in which there are nerves and blood vessels that nourish and innervate the entire tooth – the so-called dental pulp. The vessels and nerves connect through a small opening, at the end of each tooth root, with larger vessels that spread further to the entire human body. If bacteria penetrate the canals, they cause irreversible inflammation and then necrosis of the entire tooth. This condition should be eliminated as soon as possible so that the bacteria do not penetrate the human body. Reaching the heart, joints, kidneys, they can cause serious consequences.
Treatment course – in our office, the entire treatment is performed with very high precision and only under a microscope. Each stage of the treatment is controlled using radiovisiography. The mortified, infected pulp must be thoroughly cleaned and the tooth completely disinfected. We do this using the most modern measurement techniques and machine tools.
The empty, thoroughly cleaned channels are then filled with a special, biocompatible liquid or solid material (gutta-percha).
The last, very important stage of the treatment of such a tooth is the perfectly tight reconstruction of the tooth tissues destroyed by caries! The tooth should be restored using a crown or special fillings (so-called Onley or overlay) made in a technical laboratory. This is very often omitted by patients, and unfortunately also by doctors. Numerous scientific studies show that a significant percentage of root canal treatment failures are due to improper tooth reconstruction after root canal treatment. Please remember this in particular!
To perform endodontic (root canal) treatment, we use the most modern electronic devices for measuring the length of root canals, as well as devices for their machine development. We use equipment from the best and most well-known companies on the global market.
Each stage of the endodontic treatment procedure is controlled using digital radiovisiography – the ability to take computer images during root canal treatment.
By using the highest quality endodontic methods, we make it possible to preserve teeth that would have had to be removed recently. This is a cheaper and less invasive solution than implanting an implant in place of a lost tooth or installing a prosthetic bridge.
Properly performed endodontic treatment allows the tooth to be kept in the oral cavity of our patients for many years.
